Weekend Review: June 2-3

Men’s NPL were the only teams at home this weekend, hosting Mounties Wanderers FC at NTRA on Saturday night. After two impressive wins in the 18’s and 20’s, First Grade started with intent, taking the lead through captain Mike Rolston from the penalty spot. However the visitors responded well and scored twice to take the lead. A strong second half from the Tigers men saw Liam McConaghy grab the equaliser in his 100th First Grade appearance, but despite plenty of pressure on goal in the closing stages a winner was not forthcoming.

Youth NPL endured a long trip south on Saturday morning to face Wollongong Wolves Football Club at Albert Butler Park. Three 2-0 losses provided little consolation in the cold weather, but the Under 15’s turned up the heat and secured an emphatic 7-2 win!

On Sunday our Women’s NPL travelled to Blacktown Football Park to face Blacktown Spartans Football Club in a key clash for each club’s finals ambitions. Unfortunately it was a tough day at the office for our players, picking up just the one draw across all five matches.
