Coaching Philosophy

Northern Tigers fully adopt the Coaching curriculum laid down by the FFA using the Building Blocks they have put in place.  

AGE: 5 – 9 DISCOVERY PHASE  


Role of the Coach  


‘To facilitate the players discovery of the objectives of football and the basic player actions required by providing a fun football environment’  


AGE: 9 - 13 SKILL ACQUISITION PHASE

‘To prepare players for the team football by developing the functional game skills’  


AGE: 13 – 17 GAME TRAINING PHASE

The Northern Tigers Coaches follow a training development program that is focused on ‘The Four Main Moments’ of playing Football describe below. The Four Main Moments comprise of BP = Ball Possession / BPO = Ball Possession Opposition and transition between and from these two stages.  


The Team Model takes these stages and applies key principles to achieve the required objectives.
