The aim of the program is to expose players to the Northern Tigers playing and coaching philosophy which is designed to promote player development. Our goal is to work with clubs to develop players and further raise the standard of NSFA football.Selection Process

Development Squad Player Selection Process

Players will be identified for the Development Squads via

  • Invitation by selection – Click here to register your interest for our Development Squads.
  • NSFA representatives attend local NSFA games to observe players participating in a familiar environment.
  • NSFA request clubs to identify and recommend potentially talented players at their club against a set of criteria.

What Is The Northern Tigers Development Squad Program?

The aim of the program is to expose players to quality coaching and the Northern Tigers philosophy to promote player development.

The Development Squad is a training environment only, players can still register to train and play with a local NSFA Club.

Who Can Trial For Northern Tigers Development Squads?

Development Squads are an underpinning program for the Northern Tigers FC teams, with the additional aim of supporting local Clubs to further develop local players and therefore increase the standard of the local competitions. Preference is provided to players that play for and reside within the NSFA boundaries.

Can A Child Register To Play For A Local Club Team And Development Squads At The Same Time?

Yes, our development squad is a training only program. Players are expected to play with a NSFA club.

When, Where And What Time Are The Training Sessions?

Players can choose to sign up for 1 or 2 sessions per week. We are offering additional training options for players in 2026 and will hold sessions on the following days:

  • NTRA – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday (4pm) & Friday (4pm & 5pm)
  • Charles Bean – Friday (4pm & 5pm)

Further details regarding age groups and times are available in the registration process.

Please note positions are limited and as such this is a 30 week program commitment, week commencing Monday 2nd February 2026 to Friday 25th September 2026 (Term 1 to Term 3, no training in school holidays).

Times: 4pm to 5pm or 5pm to 6pm – depending on the age group (older groups in the second hour).

Locations: North Turramurra Recreation Area or Charles Bean Oval, Lindfield.

How Much Are The Development Squad Fees?

Monday & Friday = $725.00
Tuesday & Thursday = $750.00
Two sessions a week, any combination = $1,450.00

All players are required to purchase the 2026 Development squad uniform.

If you already purchased the 2025 Development Squad uniform and it still fits then you will only need to purchase a new shirt, this is due to sponsorship changes.
