Steinmetz Signs On for 2019

NZA Women v Thailand, 20 December 2016

Northern Tigers FC are delighted to announce the signing of New Zealand international Malia Steinmetz for the 2019 Women’s NPL season.

The 19-year-old midfielder is currently in New Caledonia competing in the OFC Women’s Nations Cup for the Football Ferns as they look to qualify for next year’s Women’s World Cup.

Steinmetz, who turns 20 in January, has played at three under-age world cups for New Zealand, including captaining her team at this year’s Under-20 World Cup in France.

Women’s First Grade co-coaches Jason Eagar and Pat O’Sullivan said “We have some new faces already in the 2019 squad which has added strength in key areas and we are confident Malia’s skills and experience will add further value to the squad for the 2019 season.”

Steinmetz is currently playing club football in Auckland for the Northern Lights in the NZ Women’s National League.

As well as playing, she will be sharing her skills coaching Girls SAP teams throughout the season.
